Russian natural gas giant Gazprom has built 93 percent of the Power of Siberia natural gas pipeline to transport Russian gas to China, according to Russian broadcaster RT late Thursday.
The RT reported that Gazprom confirmed that 119 operational gas wells were completed at the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia. "More than 2,000 kilometers of pipelines have been welded and laid from Yakutia to the Russian-Chinese border," Gazprom said.
The total cost of the project is expected to reach around $20 billion. China and Russia signed a $400 billion deal in May 2014 for the Power of Siberia project.
Russia plans to send 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to China, one of the world's biggest natural gas importers.
