Berat Albayrak Reappointed as Turkey's Energy Minister

Berat Albayrak was reappointed as Turkey's new Minister of Energy and Natural Resources as part of the new cabinet announced on Tuesday.

After graduating from Istanbul University Business Administration in English, Albayrak conducted his post graduate education at Lubin School of Business in New York's Pace University.

He completed his finance and banking doctorate degree with his thesis on renewable energy financing.

Albayrak started his professional career in 1996 and held many senior positions both in Turkey and abroad.

After leaving the private sector in 2013, Albayrak started writing in the Sabah newspaper while also giving lectures at Marmara University in Istanbul on banking and finance.

Albayrak was elected as a member of parliament from the Justice and Development (AK) Party during their 25th and 26th terms.

He was the country's energy and natural sources minister between Nov. 24, 2015 and May 24, 2016.

Albayrak, who is active in many non-governmental organizations, is married and has three children.
