Romania's nuclear power
plant operator Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN] would
be seeking to sell 1.68 million megawatt-hours
(MWh) of electricity on the local power market,
data from the local power market operator,
OPCOM, showed.
Blue chip Nuclearelectrica will hold an auction
for the sale of the electricity on January 23,
an announcement published on the website of
OPCOM on Thursday indicated.
The price has been set at 170 lei ($51/37.5
euro) per MWh. The electricity will be delivered
between February 1, 2014 and December 31, 2015,
and the price for 2015 is to be set according to
certain formulas, according to the document.
Nuclearelectrica, which operates the country's
sole power plant located in Cernavoda, targets
an output of 10.55 million MWh in 2014.
Nuclearelectrica must sell 3.74 million MWh of
electricity out of its entire output on the
regulated market at a price of 145.88 lei this
year, according to a decision of the country's
energy regulator, ANRE.
The nuclear power plant in Cernavoda,
southeastern Romania, has two reactors with an
installed capacity of 700 megawatts each, which
cover around one-fifth of the country's
electricity needs. Unit 1 generated 4.61 million
MWh of electricity in the first nine months of
2013, while Unit 2 produced 4.08 million MWh.
