Head of External Affairs

The Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), which is a non governmental organisation based in Athens ( www.IENE.eu) seeks to appoint an experienced professional who will take charge of the organisation’s external affairs department. As the Institute’s diverse activities are fast developing across SE Europe and membership is growing there is a need for a seasoned professional who will be able to maintain the momentum and organise IENE’s presence in the various countries and branches of the energy sector.

A core activity of the Institute is the provision of well researched energy related information and analysis which it sends regularly to all its members. Another main area of activity is the undertaking of research and study projects and the dissemination of their findings to its members but also more broadly. In addition the Institute provides a range of Advisory Services to companies and institutional clients. It also organises on a regular basis conferences,seminars and workshops The head of external relations is expected to build upon those assets and strive to broaden the Institute’s links with other organisations, increase its membership and also enrich the circle of its supporting organisations.

The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of 5 years,or more,experience in a similar post and have either a humanities,or economics or science,or engineering degree and a background in business administration. This is a full time appointment based at the Institute’s offices in Athens with frequent opportunities for travel in the region.The successful candidate is expected to function as part of a team and hence his or her willingness to actively contribute to the collective effort and work,and sometimes work under stressful conditions, will count in the appointment decision. In short the successful candidate is expected to have a strong stamina and drive for work and willingness to take initiatives and see them through to fruition.

The Head of External Affairs will report directly to the Executive Director of IENE and will have considerable freedom in structuring his or her daily programme and reporting format. Renumeration will be based on a combination of a fixed monthly summary and a results driven yearly bonus. In assessing renumeration the candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience and achievements will be taken into serious consideration.

Ηead of Research

The Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), an independent non-profit organisation focusing on SE Europe, seeks to appoint a full-time head of research. The successful candidate will be primarily engaged in the monitoring and analysis of the region’s energy markets (oil, gas, electricity, renewables, emissions) and will also be required to supervise a team of researchers. The position is suitable for an energy professional who already has some experience in the energy sector and is prepared to work hard and learn as he or she will be involved with a number of diverse projects which the Institute is now carrying out in the region. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of energy professionals and initially will assist with the preparation of the Institute’s regular information feed and also undertake some basic analysis of regional energy flows.

This is a full-time appointment to be based at the Institute's headquarters in central Athens, with opportunities to travel in the region. The ideal candidate, who must have at least 5 years work experience, should have a first degree in engineering, physical sciences or economics and a master’s degree in a related discipline. A PhD in energy or in a related field is desirable (and will count as an asset) although not strictly necessary. Above all applicants must have a strong drive to learn, tenacity to work and contribute to the overall work and goals of the Institute which is currently undergoing an expansion of its activities. The candidate must be able to communicate fluently in English and Greek.

Fund Raising Professional

The Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), which is a nonprofit organisation based in Athens (see www.IENE.eu)  seeks to appoint an experienced professional who will take charge of the Institute’s fund raising activities. As the Institute’s diverse activities are fast developing all over South East Europe and cover several disciplines it needs to raise funds in order to maintain its momentum, plan its actions well ahead and finance its various programmes.

These programmes include research and studies on energy economics, Renewable Energy Sources, electricity grids, energy storage, energy efficiency, energy poverty, energy market operation and optimisation, security of energy supply, nuclear power adapted to regional needs, hydrogen as a fuel of the future, Carbon Capture and Storage systems, assessment of hydrocarbon exploration studies, regional energy trade and cooperation, geopolitical perspectives and energy policy.

The successful fund raising professional is expected to have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar post and to have a humanities, science or engineering degree. This is a full-time appointment based at the Institute’s offices in Athens with frequent opportunities for travel mainly in Europe. The successful candidate will report directly to the Institute’s Executive Director and will have considerable freedom to structure his or her daily work programme and reporting format.

Renumeration will consist of a combination of a fixed monthly salary plus a results driven bonus. In assessing renumeration the candidate’s previous experience and achievements will be taken into consideration while his or her ability and potential to function as part of a team and contribute to the collective effort will also count.

The position is suitable for an energy professional who already has some experience in the energy sector and is prepared to work hard and learn as he or she will be involved with a number of diverse projects which the Institute is now carrying out in the region. The successful candidate will work as part of team of energy professionals and initially will assist with the preparation of the Institute’s regular information feed and also undertake some basic analysis of regional energy flows.
