Presidents of Bulgaria, Poland Back EU Energy Union

The heads of state of Bulgaria and Poland, Rosen Plevneliev and BronislawKomorowski have united around the idea that an energy union could boost theEU's security of supplies, Plevneliev's press office has said.

President Plevneliev is currently on a two-day official visit to Poland atthe invitation of counterpart Komorowski which started Tuesday. Bulgaria's President announced the country should expect more Polishinvestment in the future as Bulgaria is consolidating itself as regionalsuppliers of parts for the automotive industry and engineering.

"The diversification and connectedness of the gas transportation systemsthrough the building of interconnectors is of key importance to overcome thedependence on a single supplier and the safeguarding of energy security,"the Bulgarian head of state is quoted as saying at a joint press conferencewith Komorowski.

Plevneliev also asserted Sofia will continue it work on the setting up of anintegrated gas market in Southeast Europe and its connection to the VisegradGroup countries.
