Within the framework of their co-operation, the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) and the Federation of Industries of Greece (SVE) are to host a joint event in order to discuss “The Energy Challenge: Cost and Competitiveness in Industry”. The event is to be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 (17.00 - 19.30), at “The Met” Hotel in Thessaloniki
With Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, as the keynote speaker, the event aims to inform executives from industry and the energy sector in general about the current situation and prospects in energy prices and how they affect industry competitiveness.
As the issue of energy, and in particular the high prices of electricity and natural gas, has been recently preoccupying companies and especially the industry, SVE and IENE are joining forces with the aim of informing companies in Northern Greece, through focused addresses and presentations by a select group of executives from the energy and industry sector.
Ms. Loukia Saranti, President of SVE, and Mr. Costis Stambolis, Chairman and Executive Director of IENE, will address the event at its opening.
A round table discussion will follow, with the participation of prominent representatives of Greece’s energy and industry sectors. Speakers include Mr. Antonis Kontoleon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Union of Industrial Consumers of Energy (UNICEN), Prof. Pandelis Biskas, Chairman of IENE’s Scientific Council, Dr. Christoforos-Anestis Zoumas, Chief Operations Officer at the Energy Exchange Group (EnEx), as well as Mr. Andreas Petropouleas, IENE Partner and Chairman of IENE’s Electricity Committee and Energy Management Director at Elpedison. The discussion will be co-ordinated by Ms. Chryssa Liaggou, journalist of the “Kathimerini” daily newspaper.
An open discussion will follow the keynote speech by the Minister of Environment and Energy.
