IENE actively participated in the “Green Transition Conference” in Sofia, BulgariaFollowing an invitation by the organizers IENE attended the 3rd edition of the largest green forum in the SEE region, titled “Green Transition CEE – Energy Connectivity, Green Financing and Innovations”, which took place on June 20-22, at the Sofia Event Center in Bulgaria.

Following an invitation by the organizers IENE attended the 3rd edition of the largest green forum in the SEE region, titled “Green Transition CEE – Energy Connectivity, Green Financing and Innovations”, which took place on June 20-22, at the Sofia Event Center in Bulgaria.

More than 130 panelists from 10 countries, from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Moldova, N. Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Portugal participated in this large-scale event. The event turned out to be more of a conversation about the transformation of the economy and industry of the future, the anticipated innovations and the social expectations of European citizens. IENE was represented by Mr. Costas Theofylaktos, Secretary General of IENE and Chairman of the Energy Efficiency Committee of the Institute, who presented IENE’s view on energy efficiency in the new era.

The conference commenced with opening remarks by HE Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, and by Mr. Robert Zhelyazkov, Speaker of the National Assembly. The conference was also addressed by Mr. Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, by Ms. Lilyana Pavlova, Vice-President of the EIB, Mr Virgil-Daniel Popescu, Minister of Energy of Romania, Mr. L. Nikolovski, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of N. Macedonia and Ms. Elisa Ferreira, EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms.
