Five bidders presented their offers in a tender for the upgrade of unit A3 at the Kosova A thermal power plant, with a budget estimated at 137 million euro ($158.7 million), Kosovo’s energy corporation, KEK, said on Thursday.
The bidders are a consortium led by Poland-based SBB Energy, Turkish diversified firm Limak Holding, Chinese renewables company Golden Concord Group Limited, a consortium led by South Korean state-owned engineering firm Kepco Plant Service & Engineering, and another consortium led by local fuel retailer HIB Petrol, a KEK spokesperson said, as seen in a video on Facebook.
A technical and financial assessment of the offers should be completed within 30 days.
Earlier this week, KEK postponed the deadline for submission of bids for the sixth time since the tender launch in January.
Kosova A consists of five units, of which only two units with 200 MW capacity and a 210 MW capacity unit are operational. KEK operates the country’s two TPPs, Kosova A and Kosova B, which has two units of 339 MW each.
