It is with profound regret that the Institute of Energy for SE Europe announces the passing away of one of its most trusted friends and collaborators, Dr. Hans Hutta, who was also a Distinguished Fellow of IENEHans Hutta was considered one of the most experienced professionals of the upstream sector not only in Austria but in Europe, with a recognized international management career of almost 40 years in the Oil and Gas industry in areas ranging from Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe to the Russian Far East and Central Asia. Hans had covered positions from Area Manager CEE (OMV) to Branch Manager (OMV Bulgaria) and Director of the Representative Office of PETROM/OMV in Kazakhstan, among others. He was also General Director of the International Center For Petroleum and Industrial Management (ICM) in Vienna, Austria.
For the past 20 years and more, Hans had lectured at the Geoscience Department of the renowned Austrian State Mining University at Leoben (Styria) in Petroleum Economics and Management. He was the author of the two-volume standard reference book ‘Introduction to Exploration Economics’.
Hans Hutta was a long-standing research associate of the IENE, having, on several occasions, contributed his valuable experience and know-how as a reviewer of the Institute’s publications, or in the Institute’s events, either as a speaker or moderator over the past 12 years. IENE will always remember Hans Hutta with affection, as a great friend of the Institute and a reliable partner with a decisive help in expanding the Institute’s presence in SE and Central Europe. Above all, we shall remember Hans for his great personality, his jovial approach to everyday problems, his outreach in helping friends and associates and his great vision for a better managed world. We shall all miss him terribly.
