Bulgarian Regulator Sets New Grid Access Fee for Wind, Solar Power Producers

The Bulgarian energy regulator said it has set a new fee of 2.45 levs ($1.74/1.25 euro) per megawatt-hour (MWh) for access of solar and wind energy producers to the grid of the country's Electricity System Operator.

Renewable energy producers other than solar and wind power plants will be exempt from paying a grid access fee, the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission said.

No fee will be charged from renewable energy producers for access to the networks of the country's three electricity distribution companies - CEZ Razpredelenie Bulgaria, EVN Bulgaria Elektrorazpredelenie and ENERGO-PRO Grids.

The new tariff replaces the access fees adopted in September 2012 which were revoked by the country's Supreme Administrative Court in June 2013.

The energy regulator has also approved a refund scheme for fees collected under the revoked regulatory decision.
