The BP Energy Outlook and Statistical Review of World Energy 2018 were presented in Athens in a special event which was organized by the British Embassy in Greece and British Petroleum (BP) on Wednesday 19 September 2018.
The event started with an opening address by Her Excellency Katherine Lucy Smith, British Ambassador to Greece, followed by the key note speaker Mr William Zimmern ,the Head of Global Macroeconomics of BP,who presented the BP Energy Outlook for the second time in Greece. The BP Energy Outlook considers a base case, which outlines the "most likely" path for energy demand based on assumptions about future changes in policy, technology, and the economy. Mr Zimmern covered several aspects of the global energy scene and then responded to a number of questions and observations from the audience.
In the second part of the event, Miss Virginia Murray moderated a panel discussion on the latest developments in Greek gas infrastructure and renewable energy. Panel participants included Mr. William Zimmern, Mr. Giannis Arapoglou, Chairman of the Board of Gastrade, Mr. Harris Damaskos from EBRD, Mr.Panagiotis Ladakakos, Managing Director and Chairman of HWEA and Dr. Kostas Andriosopoulos Chairman of HAEE.
The event was attended by senior executives, scientists and energy professionals from major Greek energy-related companies and policy-makers, as well as by government officials, former Ministers of Energy and think tanks. IENE was represented by its Senior Research Associate, Mr. Nicholas Sofianos, who actively participated in the discussion which followed.
