6th Cyprus Energy Symposium to be Held in Nicosia on December 4, 2018 A major event for the energy sector in the Republic of Cyprus and the wider East Med region, this year’s Cyprus Energy Symposium will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia (see http://cyprusenergysymposium.com/).

A major event for the energy sector in the Republic of Cyprus and the wider East Med region, this year’s Cyprus Energy Symposium will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Hilton Park Hotel in Nicosia (see http://cyprusenergysymposium.com/). This is the sixth year that this major event for energy policy and business in Cyprus is taking place, organized once again by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) and the Nicosia based FMW – Financial Media Way.

The Cyprus Energy Symposium is regarded as one of the most important and better established events concerning the energy sector of Cyprus and the wider region, as senior government officials from Cyprus and abroad, academics and company executives present their expertise, experiences and concerns vis -a vis new developments in the fields of natural gas, electricity and Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

This year, due to a number of exciting new developments in Cyprus, the Energy Symposium is attracting considerable attention as it is expected to address a number of front line issues. These include, the next steps of Cyprus’s ongoing hydrocarbon exploration in its EEZ, energy cooperation between countries in the region and company investments in hydrocarbons and electricity, the promotion of plans for taking East Med gas to Europe and the use of natural gas for power generation. Furthermore, the role of RES will be analyzed in the context of strengthening Cyprus’s energy security together with energy efficiency and the deregulation of the islands’ electricity market.

The President of Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, Energy Minister, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis and his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Stathakis will address the Symposium, along with senior company executives, energy experts and analysts, senior business executives and academics from Cyprus and Greece. New developments in the energy sector of the wider region will be discussed at length at the Energy Symposium, and all aspects related to regional cooperation between Cyprus, Greece, Egypt and Israel vis-à-vis new geopolitical developments and challenges in the East Mediterranean. The Symposium is expected to focus on natural gas, electricity, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
