Wind
turbine manufacturer Vestas said on Wednesday it
has secured a 15-year service contract covering 84
megawatts (MW) of installed capacity with an
option for up to 150 MW in Romania.
The service contract covers 42 V90-2.0 MW turbines
at the Topolog Dorobantu wind power plant in the
southeastern county of Tulcea, Vestas said in a
statement.
The order has been placed by LUKERG Renew, a joint
venture between ERG Renew and LUKOIL.
The last of the 42 turbines is expected to be
installed in April this year. LUKERG Renew
connected the first 41 turbines to the grid last
November.
The Topolog Dorobantu project is one of the
largest projects in Romania and produces more than
200 gigawatt hour (GWh) per year. It provides
enough electricity to cover the residential
electricity consumption of more than 60,000
Romanian households.
Vestas entered the Romanian market in 2008.
