Vestas in Line for First 15MW Offshore Wind Turbine Order

Danish manufacturer pre-selected for EnBW’s 900MW subsidy-free offshore wind farm in German North Sea.

Vestas is in line to supply its 15MW offshore wind turbine for the first time after being pre-selected for a 900MW project off Germany. Utility-developer EnBW has named Vestas in the pre-selected tender for its subsidy-free 900MW He Dreiht project in the German North Sea.

If this agreement is updated to a firm and unconditional order, it could be the first commercial deployment of Vestas’ V236-15.0MW — the world’s most powerful wind turbine.

Turbine installation is due to begin in the second quarter of 2025, ahead of project commissioning in the fourth quarter of the same year. EnBW secured the rights to build He Dreiht in Germany’s first offshore wind tender in 2017. Vestas unveiled its 15MW turbine in February of this year.
