Turkstream Pipeline to Pass Through Bulgaria

TurkStream gas pipeline will pass through Bulgaria, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said on Friday. An official declaration came from Russian energy company Gazprom declaring Bulgaria will be on the route of TurkStream, Petkova said during her speech at Parliament of Bulgaria.

The decision had been made while Bulgaria's economic conditions had been taken into consideration, according to Petkova. The starting date of gas flow and the amount of the gas which will be transferred through Bulgaria are to be decided later.

TurkStream is an export gas pipeline set to cross beneath the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey and also further extend to Turkey's borders with neighboring countries.

The TurkStream, consisting two lines, will have a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters (bcm). Turkey will receive 15.75 bcm of the gas while the remaining capacity will be sent to Europe.
