Turkish Isiklar Enerji Unit Powers Up 10.3 MW HPP

Turkish energy company Isiklar Enerji ve Yapi Holding said on Thursday its hydropower unit BND Elektrik Uretim A.S. has put in commercial operation a 10.3 megawatt (MW) hydropower plant (HPP) in the northern Turkish province of Ordu.

The HPP will generate 33.815 GWh of elecltricity per year, Isiklar Enerji said in a bourse filing.

The construction of the plant started in October 2011, the company said.

BND Elektrik is building two HPPs in the provinces of Kahramanmaras, southern Turkey, and Gumushane, northern Turkey, with start of operation expected in 2014 and 2015, respectively, according to information on the company’s website.
