Turkish
energy minister Taner Yildiz and Iraqi deputy
prime minister for energy affairs Hussain
al-Shahristani have agreed that oil exports from
Iraq will require the approval of Iraq's central
government, Turkish media reported.
Hussain al-Shahristani announced the agreement at
a press conference after a meeting with Yildiz in
Iraq, news agency Anadolu Ajansi reported on
Sunday.
Last month, Turkish media reported that Turkey was
in talks with the government of Iraq's
semi-autonomous Kurdistan region to conduct
exploration activities in 13 oil and gas blocks in
the region via the state-backed Turkish Energy
Company.
