SOCAR AQS Completes Well Drilling in Bulla-Deniz Field

SOCAR AQS, an integrated drilling and well services management company in Azerbaijan, successfully completed well drilling in the Bulla-Deniz field located in the Caspian Sea on behalf of Azneft Production Unit, the company announced on Friday.

According to the statement, SOCAR AQS has successfully completed the construction for well 113 at a target depth of 6,200 meters. The company's rig manager Ilgar Mammadov hailed the personnel of SOCAR AQS for their professionalism in overcoming the challenges faced in operating in one of the most challenging high pressure fields in the world, the Bulla-Deniz and for opening up the company to new prospects and opportunities.

SOCAR AQS in currently working on drilling wells from platforms 7 and 11 in the shallow waters of the Gunashli Field, platform 10 on the West Absheron field and from fixed platform 6 located in the Bulla Field in the Caspian Sea.

"For the first time in the history of Azerbaijan's drilling industry, SOCAR AQS has successfully ran full-string 13 3/8" intermediate casing in one stage with the total weight of 546 tons to the depth of 5,093 meters and next 9 5/8" casing with total weight of 393 tons to the target depth of 5,620 m with the 24° inclination and subsequently performing quality cement jobs," the company said in the statement.

In 2007, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Absheron Drilling Company established the joint venture company, SOCAR AQS LLC as an integrated drilling and well services management company.
