Serbia's Subotica Approves Regulation Plan for 600 MW Wind Farm

Serbia's Subotica city assembly said it has approved a detailed regulation plan for the construction of a 600 MW wind farm by local company Maestrale Ring, a subsidiary of Fintel Energija [BEL:FINT], it said.

The wind farm will be built on a land plot of 6,700 hectares and will produce 1,000 GWh of power per year, enough to satisfy the energy needs of 200,000 households, the Subotica city assembly said in a statement on Thursday.

"The detailed regulation plan is only the first step, it is a precondition for the development of the project. In cooperation with the relevant ministry and provincial institutions, the investor will further develop this project until its construction," the director of Subotica's urban planning department, Predrag Radivojevic, said.

Fintel Energija, the Serbian subsidiary of Italy's Fintel Energia Group, owns the entire capital of Maestrale Ring, according to data from the Serbian business register.

In February 2020, Fintel Energija announced plans to build Europe's largest onshore wind farm in Serbia. Back then, the company said the wind farm will be located in Vojvodina and will have an installed capacity of 572 MW. In its first-half report filed by Fintel Energija with the Belgrade Stock Exchange, the company said the wind farm will have a capacity of 632.8 MW.
