Nuclearelectrica [BSE:SNN], the operator of Romania's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Cernavoda, said that it has postponed the shutdown of one of the plant's two 700 MW units scheduled for January 15-16 in order to ensure continuous supply during a period with extremely cold weather in the country.
The postponement of the controlled shutdown has no impact on the normal operation of Unit 1, nuclear safety, personnel or population, Nuclearelectrica said in a press release on Friday.
Nuclearelectrica announced on January 12 that it plans to shut down Cernavoda NPP's Unit 1 for remediation works due to a dysfunction of the classic/secondary technological circuit.
Blue chip Nuclearelectrica traded 0.42% higher at 19.02 lei ($4.7/ 3.9 euro) as at 0927 CET on the BVB on Monday.
