Romania: President Iohannis Meets ExxonMobil, OMV Petrom Representatives

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday met representatives of ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom, in the view of the two companies’ association to explore and exploit gas and crude oil in the Black Sea, the Presidential Administration informed in a press release.

"President Klaus Iohannis reiterated Romania’s major potential on energy resources, as well as our country’s interest to capitalize its advantages in the energy sector in a sustainable and competitive way,” reads the press release.

According to the above-mentioned sources, the companies’ representatives underlined the importance of fiscal and legislative stability and predictability so that major investments carried on Romania’s maritime areas should benefit of a clear perspective on medium and long term.

At the same time, interlocutors mentioned the mutual benefits of exploring and exploiting the resources in the Black Sea region, particularly in the current economic and geopolitical context, the press release concludes.
