Romanian prosecutors aresearchingthe offices
of Petrotel-Lukoil refinery on Thursday in a
case of money laundering and tax evasion, local
media reported.
The damages to the state budget are estimated at
some 200 million euro ($252.7 million),
financial daily Ziarul Financiar reported,
citing unnamedsources.
Petrotel-Lukoil refinery, located in the
southern city of Ploiesti,is one of the largest
Romanian oil refineries and one of the largest
in Eastern Europe. It was sold to Russian
company Lukoil in 1998.
