Leading energy groups support the 13th SEE Energy Dialogue by IENE

The 13th SEE Energy Dialogue, organized by the Institute for Energy of Southeast Europe (IENE), is taking place in hybrid form in Thessaloniki, on June 16 & 17, supported by some of the leading energy groups in the country and the wider region of Southeast Europe.

This international conference, with more than 65 distinguished speakers participating, has attracted the interest of the largest players in the domestic and regional market. Thus, the two-day event is sponsored by the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) and the KG Law Firm, a leading law firm,- which are Strategic Sponsors of the Conference - the Hellenic Petroleum Group and Motor Oil - the two leading refining groups in Greece, TERNA Energy - a leading company in the field of clean energy, Elpedison - one of the main providers of electricity in the country, the Hellenic Energy Exchange (EXE) and DEPA Commercial. The 13th SEE Energy Dialogue is also supported by Energean, the Independent Electricity Transmission Operator (IPTO), the Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange (IBEX) and EnSCo, a long established electricity trading company active in SEE.

The purpose of this regional forum is to bring together high-ranking government officials, senior business executives and energy experts from all over SEE Europe and beyond, with a view of exchanging information and ideas, networking and promoting cooperation to address the growing global and regional energy and environmental challenges.

The special theme of this year's event, "Energy Security, Market Integration and Sustainability in SE Europe", reflects the serious challenges faced currently by the energy sector of the region. Energy security and a competitive price environment are issues of paramount importance for energy policy and the energy markets at large. In addition, this year's "Energy Dialogue" is considered extremely relevant, given the EU's determination to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian oil and gas, while maintaining its focus on the decarbonization and Green Deal goals.

Europe's, and especially Southeast Europe's, high dependence on fossil fuels, the current volatile energy pricing environment, the global concern for the development of sustainable alternatives and the need to advance further carbon-free solutions are key policy issues which will be hotly debated in this year’s Energy Dialogue. As in previous years, the SEE Energy Dialogue will also cover the latest developments in the region's evolving gas, electricity and RES markets and ongoing energy partnerships with major oil and gas suppliers. In addition, the Institute’s Background Paper on the subjects to be discussed at the Conference, has been released in advance in order to facilitate discussion.

You may find more information on the 13th SEE Energy Dialogue’s programme, confirmed speakers and registration process on the conference’s microsite.
