IENE’s Annual Conference to Focus on Greee’s and Europe’s New  Energy AgendaOnce again, IENE's annual Energy & Development conference http://www.iene.eu/en/congress/19/energy-and-development-2019 sets the energy agenda for Greece and Southeast Europe. Focusing on "The Pivotal Role of Energy in Economic Growth", this important two-day event aims to provide a comprehensive range of information and serve as a springboard for a dialogue on key energy issues in Greece and internationally.

Once again, IENE's annual Energy & Development conference http://www.iene.eu/en/congress/19/energy-and-development-2019 sets the energy agenda for Greece and Southeast Europe. Focusing on "The Pivotal Role of Energy in Economic Growth", this important two-day event aims to provide a comprehensive range of information and serve as a springboard for a dialogue on key energy issues in Greece and internationally.

IENE’s national conference, which has attracted more than sixty speakers and panelists from Greece and abroad, is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and will take place at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens on November 21-22, 2019.

The conference will be opened by a keynote speech by Mr Gerasimos Thomas, Greece’s Deputy Minister for Environment and Energy, while the CEOs of leading Greek energy companies such as PPC, HELPE, ADMIE, ENEL Green Power, Energean will outline their companies investment plans. The conference is expected to focus on Greece’s new energy agenda as decarbonization plans are being accelerated in line with EU’s goals. The energy goals will also be discussed with their economic and social implications.

Among the highlights of IENE's annual conference will be the presentation of the World Energy Outlook 2019 published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and presented by the organisation’s senior analyst, Kieran McNamara, as well as the presentation by Mrs. Irini Nikolaou, Policy officer at DG Climate from the European Commission in Brussels. Furthermore, the keynote speaker at the "Ambassador’s Forum” which is this year’s innovation, will be the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Greece, H.E Ms. Zhang Qiyue while H.E Mr. Kyriakos Kenevezos, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Greece will also participate.

Furthermore, addresses are scheduled by Mr Tim Yeo, Chairman, The New Nuclear Watch Institute (NNWI), former Member of the British Parliament and Minister of Energy, Prof. Pantelis Capros, Director of the E3M Lab Laboratory, National Technical University of Athens and Chairman of the IENE Scientific Committee, and by Prof. Andrey Konoplyanik, Adviser to the Director and Professor of International Oil & Gas Business, Gazprom Export and Russian State Gubkin Oil & Gas University from Russia, Mr. George Stassis, President and CEO, PPC, Mr. Aristotelis Chantavas, Head of Europe area, Enel Green Power Hellas, Mr. John Papathanassiou, Chairman of BOD in HELLENIC PETROLEUM, Mr. Dimitris Gondikas, Vice President & Managing Director, Energean Oil & Gas.

In addition, conference speakers include Ms. Boyana Achovksi, Secretary General, Gas Infrastructure Europe from Brussels, Irene Iakovidou, Head of RAE’s Natural Gas Network Department, Mr. George Polychroniou, Coordinator of DEPA's Strategic, Development, Administrative and Informatics Activities, Prof. George Ioannou, CEO of ΕnEx Group, Prof. Vesna Borozan, Head of Power Systems Department, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, University of Sts. Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Environment and Energy, Prof. Costas Aravossis, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water of the Ministry of Environment and Prof. Ioannis Anagnostopoulos, board member of RAE will address key issues related to energy policy.

Finally, by Mr. Alexandra Sdoukou, Secretary General for Energy and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Environment, Mr. Angelos Syrigos, Assistant Professor of Panteion University and member of parliament for the New Democracy party, Dr. Constantinos Filis, Research Director of the Institute of International Relations, Panteion University, and Dr. Marika Karagiannis, Caspian Energy expert, Democritus University.
