German wind farm developer PNE Wind
said on Monday it will set up a joint venture
together with German green power company Steag New
Energies to develop wind power projects in Turkey.
The two companies will each own 50% of the new
company, PNE Wind said in a statement published on
its website.
"PNE WIND AG will contribute a number of wind farm
projects in which wind energy systems with a
nominal output of up to 700 megawatt (MW) can be
installed, together with its know-how in project
development," it added.
The projects currently in development are now
being prepared by the joint company for the coming
tendering round for wind farms in Turkey.
Steag has been present on the Turkish energy
market for 30 years and has been operating in the
wind power sector since 2007. It has been
operating a 1,320 MW coal fired power plant in
Iskenderun, on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, since
2003 and has also been developing wind projects in
Turkey for some years, the statement said.
