Project for integrated solar panel factory underway in neighboring Bulgaria
Smart Solar intends to build a vertically integrated manufacturing facility in the Stara Zagora area in neighboring Bulgaria. It would make wafers, cells and solar panels and have an annual capacity of 1.5 GW in each segment.
Notably, Smart Solar recently completed a PV plant of 130.5 MW in peak capacity and a 100 MW connection. The site is in the Bor district of Nigde province in the southern part of the region of central Anatolia. The company won state support for the project at an auction in 2022. Called Renewable Energy Zones (REZ), the scheme is better known by its Turkish acronym YEKA.
