Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica said it has signed a 476.1 million lei ($101.8 million/90.2 million euro) design and execution contract for the rehabilitation of the 220/110/20 kV substation in the central city of Alba Iulia.
The substation rehabilitation project benefits from 228.5 million lei in non-refundable financing from the Modernisation Fund, Transelectrica said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The design and execution contract has a duration of 44 months, with completion scheduled for May 2030.
The project architecture extends beyond the perimeter of the Alba Iulia substation, implying IT&C elements across 21 substations of the Electricity Transmission Network, two Hidroelectrica sites, four DEER [Distributie Energie Electrica Romania] substations, and five Transelectrica offices or centers, connecting energy infrastructure with communication, data, and analysis systems, as well as Transelectrica’s operational structures.
Transelectrica said in August that it signed two contracts with the energy ministry for a total of 67 million euro in Modernisation Fund financing for two grid modernisation projects.
