Bulgaria's Solaris Holding Launches 59.8 Mwp Hybrid PV Park

Bulgarian engineering and construction company Solaris Holding, a joint venture of Bulgarian-German solar photovoltaic (PV) plant developer Sunotec and the main shareholders of energy and insurance group Eurohold Bulgaria, said on Friday that it launched a new hybrid renewable energy park near the northwestern city of Vratsa.

Located near the village of Selanovtsi, the park comprises a PV plant with an installed capacity of 59.8 MWp, enough to power over 22,000 households, and a 107.3 MWh energy storage system, Solaris Holding said in a press release.

Spanning ??37.86 hectares, the facility has 103,116 solar panels and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 1.03 million tonnes annually.

The generated electricity is managed by energy trader Electrohold Trade, part of the Eurohold Group [BUL:EUBG]. Project financing was secured from United Bulgarian Bank and Germany’s Varengold Bank.

Solaris Holding has already delivered over 600 MW of renewable energy capacity across Bulgaria and the region, integrating more than 2,000 MWh of energy storage systems.

Sunotec holds a 12% share in Europe’s industrial PV construction market and has over 630 solar projects with a combined capacity of more than 10 GW.

In September, Solaris inaugurated a hybrid green energy production and storage park in the city of Pernik, which includes a 32 MWp PV plant and a 61 MWh energy storage facility.
