Albania's government will establish a state-owned fuel enterprise in a move to tame prices amid volatility on global markets due to the war in Iran, prime minister Edi Rama said on Friday.
The new entity will offer wholesalers long-term deal options to ensure lower retail prices, which in turn is set to boost price competition in the local market, Rama said during a press conference, as seen in a video on his Facebook.
Currently, diesel sells at around 200 Albanian leks ($2.4 per litre/2.07 euro per litre) in fuel stations across the country, local media reported on Thursday, an increase from around 179 leks per litre a week earlier.
