On "Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Industry”, one of the EU's key objectives under the European Green Deal, will focus the online training seminar to be held by the Institute of Energy for South-East Europe from 3 to 31 March 2021.

The Seminar will have a total duration of 35 teaching hours, consisting of eleven 3-hour and one 2-hour meetings. Distinguished scientists and experts will present energy efficiency methods and applications in both the building and industry. In addition, both the existing legal framework and the energy audit methodology as well as the feasibility study of the energy saving projects will be presented. The Seminar is primarily aimed at energy inspectors and auditors, engineers, physicists, and environmentalists. However, its educational content has been designed to make it attractive to anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge on the subject, regardless of specialization.

Energy Efficiency is a key element of the European Green Deal on Climate Neutral Economy by 2050. According to the Green Deal, the "Energy Efficiency First" principle applies across the EU. To achieve this, the EU has asked Member States to prepare their National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) with specific targets for 2030, 2040 and 2050. Prepared in 2019, the Greek NECP provides for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of more than 42% by 2030 in relation to 1990. To achieve this goal requires a high technical capacity, flexible and innovative approach to policy formulation and implementation as well as informing the citizens.

In this context, IENE has put high on its agenda the promotion of Energy Efficiency, creating a separate Scientific Committee of experts and scientists, where all relevant issues are discussed and analyzed, especially applications in the built environment and industry. As part of its activities in the field of Energy Efficiency, both at national and regional level, IENE regularly organizes Conferences and other similar events, such as the present online Educational Seminar on "Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Industry" March 2021.

A good knowledge of English is a prerequisite for attending the seminar. Detailed notes and material will be provided for all the topics that will be presented at the Seminar, while all participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance by IENE.

Finally, those of the participants who wish to prepare a study on one or more topics of the Seminar, will be able to implement it within one month from the end of the Seminar. Their study will be examined by the supervisor and its title will be mentioned on the Certificate.

The deadline for submitting applications to attend the seminar is March 2, 2021.
