Friday, 21 March 2014

Croatia will formally open tenders for offshore oil and gas exploration and production on April 2, the country's economy ministry said on Friday.

Croatia has defined 29 blocks for oil and gas exploration in the Adriatic sea, ranging in size from 1,000 to 1,600 square kilometres.

Deputy economy minister Alen Leveric met in London with representatives of nine oil companies, which have expressed interest in participating in the tender, the economy ministry said in a statement after the official held a presentation of the project in the U.K. capital.

On Monday, a data room was opened for companies interested in the upcoming tender. The data room contains existing seismic data on Croatia's portion of the Adriatic Sea as well as long-offset data acquired recently by Norwegian seismic imaging services provider Spectrum Geo.
