ContourGlobal Bulgarian TPP Completes 5.1 Mln Euro Upgrades of Desulphurisation Installations

Bulgaria's thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa East 3, majority-owned by London-listed diversified energy company ContourGlobal, completed upgrades worth 10 million levs ($6 million/5.1 million euro) of the desulphurisation installations of its four units during its regular annual maintenance, it said on Monday.

Following the completion of the investment project which was launched in June, the plant meets the latest EU requirements for desulphurisation in electricity generation, the TPP said in a statement.

TPP ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 has invested over 1.4 billion levs in safety and environment protection measures so far.

Since the beginning of 2021, the plant has covered over 10% of Bulgaria's electricity consumption.
