Cengiz Energy Invests $150M in Uzbekistan Power Plant

Turkey's Cengiz Energy will establish a natural gas combined cycle power plant in Uzbekistan with an investment of US$150 million, the company announced on Monday.

The plant, with a capacity of 240 megawatts, will be built in Tashkent under an investment agreement between Uzbekistan’s investment and foreign trade ministry, the country’s National Electric Networks (JSC) and Cengiz Energy.

The company said the power plant, which Cengiz Energy will operate for 25 years, will be completed in 12 months. The natural gas to be used in the power plant will be supplied by Uztransgaz, Uzbekistan's gas supply company.

The power plant, which will produce approximately 2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, will be able to solely meet the energy needs of 120 thousand households while also contributing to the diversity of the country's energy resources.

"We have carried out many projects around the world, such as energy, mining operations, infrastructure and superstructure constructions. Finally, within the framework of our strategy to expand abroad, we signed an investment agreement to establish a natural gas combined cycle power plant in Uzbekistan," Ahmet Cengiz, a board member of Cengiz Energy said.
