Bulgarian
mining complex Mini Maritza Iztok said on Friday
its coal output amounted to 7.24 million tones in
the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 1.39
million tones compared to the same period a year
earlier.
The three mines of Mini Maritsa Iztok excavated
and transported some 25.5 million cubic metres
(mcm) of earth in the January-March period, which
is an increase by nearly 8.0 mcm on the year, the
company said in a statement on its website.
These figures are completely in line with the
company’s business plan for this year, the company
added.
Earlier this year, the mining complex said it
expects that its coal output would increase to 29
million tonnes in 2014, from 25.5 million tonnes
in 2013.
The state-owned mining complex is located in
southern Bulgaria.
