Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline delivered 3.3 billion barrels of Azeri oil since it became operational in 2006, from Ceyhan marine terminal in the Adana province of southern Turkey to the international oil markets, according to data from Turkey's petroleum pipeline corporation BOTAS.
The oil delivered through the 1,776 kilometer-long BTC pipeline was loaded to more than 4,300 oil tankers in Haydar Aliyev marine terminal in Ceyhan near Adana, a southeastern coastal province, during the past 13 years to reach the global oil market.
While the highest oil delivery through the pipeline was made in 2010 with 286.2 million barrels, the lowest delivery was recorded in 2006 with 57.8 million barrels, according to BOTAS figures. Since the beginning of this year, approximately 187.9 million barrels of oil were delivered through the BTC pipeline until Oct. 15, the data showed.
The BTC pipeline delivers Azeri light crude -- mainly from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field -- through Georgia to Turkey's Mediterranean port of Ceyhan for further export via tankers. Here is the approximate amount of oil transit through the pipeline during the past decade:
