Joint ACCI-IENE Event - Green Bonds as a Financial Tool for Low Carbon Projects

Announcement

As energy transition gathers pace so is the interest for investment in low carbon clean technologies and applications. Hence, over the last few years there has been a dramatic rise in funding needs for Renewable and Energy Efficiency applications. As ESG criteria have been incorporated into the business strategy of a large number of companies worldwide, green bonds are now an established financial investment instrument. Wishing to inform companies on how to exploit the funding opportunities that green bonds offer to projects promoting energy transition, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) are holding a Joint Event on “Green Bonds as a Financial Tool for Low Carbon Projects”.

The event will take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 (17.00 – 19.30), at the ACCI “Hermes Hall”.

The aim of the event is to inform companies involved in low-carbon projects (RES, energy efficiency improvements, etc.) on the financing options now available through the issuance of green bonds.

Committed to the support and promotion of sustainable development, IENE has set up a partnership with the UK based Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) and since January 2021, the Institute has been the first organization in Greece and SE Europe to be granted Approved Verifier status under the Climate Bond Standard. This is a significant milestone in the development of Green Bond markets in SE Europe and IENE has already participated in a series of relevant certifications and the issuance of green bonds for companies in the region.
