Turkey's Akfen Unit Brings Online 20.24 MW of Hydropower Capacity

Turkish energy producer Elen Enerji Uretimi, part of local conglomerate Akfen’s hydropower group Akfenhes, has put into operation 20.24 megawatts (MW) of hydropower capacity, Akfen [BIST:AKFEN] said on Monday.

Elen Enerji powered up its 15.2 MW Dogancay HES 1 hydropower plant (HPP) and the 5.04 MW first unit of the Dogancay HES 2 plant, Akfen said in a bourse filing.

The 10.08 MW second unit of the Dogancay HES 2 plant, with a total capacity of15.2 MW,started operations in August.

The Dogancay 1 and 2 HPPs are expected to generate a total of 171.68 GWh of electricity per year, Akfen said.

Akfen’s total operational hydropower capacity now stands at175 MW. Through its subsidiaries, the companyhas 10 operational HPPs which produce772 GWh of electricity per year, Akfen added.
