Turkey's oil imports increased by 1.09 percent year-on-year reaching 40.6 million tons last year, Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EMRA) data revealed on Tuesday.
Turkey imported the highest oil quantities from Iraq, Russia and Iran respectively, according to EMRA's 2016 Oil Market Sector Report.
Oil imports from these countries accounted for 59 percent of total imports.
Refinery license holders imported 28.7 million tons of oil out of the total amount, distributor license holders imported 11.3 million tons and bunker fuel license holders received 5 thousand tons of oil in 2016.
Additionally, Turkey's gasoline exports decreased by 7.3 percent in 2016, compared to 2015.
The average price of one liter of 95 octane unleaded fuel was 1.57 Turkish liras in 2015 compared to 1.56 liras per liter of diesel oil.
US$1 equals 3.58 Turkish liras, according to Turkey's Central Bank data.
