Turkey's LPG imports up 9.8% year-on-year in May

Turkey's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports increased by nearly 9.8 percent to 304 thousand tons in May compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data revealed by the country's energy watchdog.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EPDK) data showed that imports to Turkey came from several countries including Algeria, the U.S., Kazakhstan, Russia, Libya and Norway. Turkey's LPG production was down in May to approximately 76 thousand tons - a decrease of almost 26 percent on a yearly basis.

Exports also saw an increase in the same period by nearly 35 percent to 9.5 thousand tons compared to May 2017. Among the countries that imported the highest LPG volumes from Turkey were Egypt, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Syria, Turkey's free trade zones and Tunisia.

Total sales of LPG hit approx. 345 thousand tons in May including 268.6 thousand tons of autogas, 68 thousand tons of bottled LPG and 8.8 thousand tons of bulk LPG.
