Turkey's first nuclear plant, Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), will receive an incentive worth nearly $19.9 billion, according to Turkey's Economy Ministry data on Friday.
In the ministry's release of monthly incentive approvals for November, Akkuyu NPP received for the first time an incentive of nearly $19.9 billion (76 billion Turkish liras).
According to the list, 2,764 people will be employed at the plant with the help of the incentive.
Expenditure for the plant's machinery and equipment imports will amount to $4.5 billion, the ministry noted.
Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, plans to construct the nuclear power plant in the country's southern province of Mersin on the Mediterranean coast.
The plant has an operational date set for the first reactor by 2023 and the plant is expected to be up and running at full capacity by 2025.
