Romanians Can Apply for State Money for ‘Natural-Organic’ Home Insulation

Romanians can apply for financing of up to RON 40,000 (almost EUR 8,900) granted in the form of an energy efficiency bonus, to insulate their homes using organic and natural materials. The non-refundable financing, which cannot exceed RON 120 (around EUR 26) per insulated sqm, is granted through the Green House Plus (Casa Verde Plus) program, Digi24.ro reports.

Last year, Romanians could apply for funds for installing or replacing conventional heating systems with systems that use renewable energy through the Green House (Casa Verde) program.

The Green House Plus program encourages the use of organic materials to reduce buildings’ energy consumption and improve environmental quality. The eligible organic materials can be hemp fiber, wool, cotton – recycled denim, cork, cellulose made out of recycled materials and related materials.

Applications for the funding can be made both for homes under constructions or for already existing housing, only if the constructions have at most one ground floor and two levels. Every applicant can ask for only one energy efficiency bonus and needs to cover potential extra costs exceeding the value of the financing. The bonus can be spent on purchasing goods and services, the works needed to implement the insulation works, and the related VAT.

While the rules for applying for financing in the program were published in the Official Monitor, the dates of the application period have not been announced yet.
