March 30-31: IENE Conference on «Oil Refining, Storage and Retail in SE Europe» in ThessalonikiThe "Oil Refining, Storage and Retail in SE Europe” conference is convened by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) as part of its regional remit and in the context of its "SE Europe Energy Dialogue” initiative. The conference will take place in Thessaloniki, on March 30-31, 2017, and will be held at the Met Hotel where IENE has organized many similar events

The "Oil Refining, Storage and Retail in SE Europe” conference is convened by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) as part of its regional remit and in the context of its "SE Europe Energy Dialogue” initiative. The conference will take place in Thessaloniki, on March 30-31, 2017, and will be held at the Met Hotel where IENE has organized many similar events.

By organizing the present conference IENE wants to inform the business and energy community of the highly positive developments in the SE European and East Mediterranean refinery sector but also explore the significant challenges which lie ahead. Recognized authorities of the oil industry and well respected analysts from the region but also from international oil companies and organizations will travel to Thessaloniki to speak in this highly focused event.

In the official conference dinner on Thursday evening, March 30, Mr. Grigoris Stergioulis, CEO of Hellenic Petroleum, will deliver the opening address while Mr. John Aligizakis, Chairman of the Hellenic Petroleum Marketing Companies and CEO of Elinoil and Mr. Avner Maimon, CEO of Bazan Grou from Israel will contribute opening remarks, while the Chairman of the Institute, Mr. John Chadjivassiliadiswill open and chair the Session.

On Friday, March 31, renowned energy experts of the oil sector will provide latest insights on how global oil market dynamics work and the trends which are now prevailing in the SE European and East Mediterranean market with special reference to refining and inventories.

In the first Session, on the morning of March 31- Dr. Leo Drollas (Independent Energy Consultant, UK), Mr. John Cooper (Director General, Fuels Europe, Brussels) andMr. Dimitris Mezartasoglou (Resident Research Associate, IENE) will present a review of the global and European oil markets with the Session being moderated by Mr. Costis Stambolis, IENE’S Executive Director.

In the second Session, which deals with the Refining Trends in SE Europe, senior executives from a number of important regional oil companies will participate and speak. These will include Mr. Avner Maimon, CEO, Bazan Group, Israel,  Μr. Vladimir Gagic, Director of Refining Block, NIS, Serbia Mr. Laurentiu Pachiu, Founder Partner and Member of the Board, EPG and Mr. Alexandru Maximescu,Public and Regulatory Affairs Director, OMV Petrom, Romania and Mr. Diomidis Stamoulis, Senior Director, Strategic Planning of Industrial Activities and Participations of Hellenic Petroleum and Mr. Petros Papasotiriou, Managing Director, Asprofos from Greece while Dr. Hans Hutta, General Manager, ICM and senior IENE Associate from Austria will moderate this Session.

In Session III, which deals with infrastructure finance and regulatory issues, a number of prominent panelists from the region but also from international banking institutions will participate. Mr. Ilia Gjermani, Head of Regulatory and Management of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy from Albania,  Mr. Adam Howard, Principal Banker Natural Resources της EBRD from London, Mr. Roman Matkiwsky, Director of Energy and Infrastructure of BSTDB and Mr. Gus Papamichalopoulos, Senior Partner της KG Law Firm and Secretary General of ΙΕΝΕ from Greece will speak in this Session which will be co-ordinated by Mr. Christos Dimas, Chairman of the Hellenic-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Geopolitics Committee and Member of the BoD of IENE.

The conference’s last Session (IV) which deals with oil marketing, storage and transportation issues and will be co-ordinated by Mr. Nikola Radovanovic, Chief Legal Officer for EU Legislation, EU Liaison Office, CEO Office, NIS (Serbia). Mr. Roberto Karahannas, General Manager, Domestic and International Retail of Hellenic Petroleum will be the keynote speaker and a panel discussion will follow with the participation of  Mr. Dinos Leukaritis, CEO of Petrolina (Cyprus), του Mr. Dragan Kovacevic, Chairman of JANAF (Croatia) and  Mr. Alexis Athanasopoulos, Head of Regulatory Affairs, EKO (Bulgaria).
