Kazakistan Ready to Increase Oil Exports to China

Kazakistan is ready to increase the amount of oil deliveries to China by 3 million tons per year, KazTransOil's general manager said on Monday in a press meeting in Astana.

Kazakistan already sends 7 million tons of oil to China, under an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Kazakistan.

"Under this agreement, we can increase the amount of oil to 10 million tons per year without making any technical change," Nurtas Smanov, general manager of KazTransOil said.

Smanov stated that the tariff for the extra amount will be determined according to the profit policy of the company.

KazTransOil is the country's biggest oil transit company with a total oil pipeline length of 5,373 kilometers.

The agreement between Russia and Kazakistan covers petroleum contracts and energy supplies transiting through Kazakhstani and Russian territory to European and Chinese markets.
