Greece’s energy and banking sector, as well as the country’s business community, are expected to participate en masse in this one-day conference jointly convened by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) and the Panhellenic Exporters Association (PEA), on "Energy: Investments, Employment and Exports”, to be held in Athens on April 26, 2017.

The event, which will take place in the ACCI auditorium(7, Akadimias Str., Athens), will focus on the crucial factors involved in energy investments, employment and exports. Despite the great difficulties that Greece is currently enduring, as the country’s economy has been going through a long phase of decline and stagnation, many significant opportunities have arisen lately in its energy sector. Infrastructure has emerged as a most promising field in Greece’s energy sector, whereas there is a growing export potential in oil refining, solar thermal systems, building materials and energy related products, metering systems and services. This very timely conference, jointly convened by three of the most active organizations of the country, and organized by IENE, aspires to stress the urgent need for the introduction of policies that would guarantee a viable course for energy investments and exports, thus improving employment in a sector so crucial for Greece’s economy.

The event’s opening speeches will be delivered by the Chairman of ACCI, Mr. Constantinos Michalos, the Chairwoman of PEA, Ms. Christina Sakellaridis, the Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Environment & Energy, Mr. Michalis Verroiopoulos, while Mr. John Chatzivassiliadis, Chairman of IENE will contribute opening remarks.

The speakers of the conference include senior executives from Greece’s major energy groups, namely Hellenic Petroleum SA, Public Power Corporation (PPC) SA, Public Gas Corporation (DEPA)SA, Protergia SA, TERNA Energy SA, Energean Oil & Gas, Kopelouzos Group, EDA Attikis SA (Attiki Natural Gas Distribution Company), ENEL, the Athens Exchange Group, as well as institutional organizations and associations engaged in the energy field(Independent Power Transmission Operator-ADMIE SA, HellasRES, EREF,HACHP etc.), who will elaborate on their viewpoints on the current situation of energy business in Greece, as well as its potential for energy to become a key factor for the country’s exiting policy from its ongoing crisis. Something that could be achieved through the promotion of exports with the parallel rejuvenation in employment. Last but not least, within the framework of the "Energy: Investments, Employment and Exports” conference, IENE will present the preliminary findings of its latest revised "Energy and Employment” study, the first version of which was published in 2013.

The conference’s main sponsors include TERNA Energy SA, Energean Oil& Gas and EDA Attikis SA (Attiki Natural Gas Distribution Company), while Greece’s leading energy portal Energia. Gr is the media sponsor.
