The detailed programme of this year’s "Energy Dialogue” meeting, to be held in Thessaloniki on June 29-30, has just been announced by the Institute. More than fifty speakers, panelists and raporteurs will participate in this intense two-day event which will take place at the Met Hotel in downtown Thessaloniki.

The special theme for this year’s SEEED is the "Quest for a New Energy Balance” signifying the rebalancing now taking place in the global and regional energy markets in more ways than one. Also, the 9th SE Europe Energy Dialogue gathering is highly topical given EU’s major drive to establish an "Energy Union” and the emphasis placed on energy security in view of persisting regional instability, as well as on account of latest developments in the region’s fast-moving natural gas, electricity and RES markets but also S.E. European countries’ evolving energy partnerships with countries and regions in its periphery.

Furthermore, IENE’s major study the "SE Europe Energy Outlook 2016”, which will be published later in the year, will be presented for the first time during the conference as it will provide a very useful background reference.

The main topics to be covered in the sessions of the 9th SEE Europe Energy Dialogue are:

- The Quest for a New Energy Balance, and Implications for SE Europe

- SE Europe Energy Outlook

- Energy Security and Market Integration Priorities in SE Europe

- How Feasible is Decarbonisation in SE Europe?

- Power Generation, Networks and Connectivity

- Electricity Market Operation Challenges in SE Europe

- Gas Market Developments in SE Europe and Beyond

- Investment and Business Opportunities in the region’s Oil and Gas Markets

– The Evolving Energy Landscape of SEE and the New Challenges

As in past years participants to the 9thSEEED include senior officials from a number of international organizations: such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), the European Commission, the Energy Charter, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Coordinated Auction Office in South East Europe, (SEECAO) etc. (for detailed information on the 9th SEEED, its programme, confirmed speakers and registration can be viewed here, visit the respective banner).

This important regional event has already generated considerable interest among several companies active in the region’s energy sector. So far lead sponsors include Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) and the Public Gas Corporation (DEPA), while supporters comprise Serbia’s top petroleum company NIS, the Energean Oil&Gas Company, KG Law Firm, one of Greece’s leading law offices, and EnSCo SA, one of the most active companies in Greece’s energy services sector.
