Eni to Develop Renewables in Tunisia

Eni signed a cooperation agreement with Tunisia's state company Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petrolieres (ETAP) to develop renewable energy projects in Tunisia, Eni announced Wednesday.

The agreement was signed under the patronage of the Tunisian minister of energy, mines and renewable energy during the international conference named Tunisia 2020, which was organized to promote the economic, social and sustainable development of the country.

The initiative is part of Eni's goal of relaunching its activities and broadening the scope of cooperation in Tunisia, Eni said.

Eni currently operates in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons since the early 60's in Tunisia. The company's production in the country stands at 11,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Eni said.

The union between Eni and ETAP will implement renewable energy projects while also targeting the optimization of the oil sites, energy resources and reduction of carbon emissions, the company revealed.
