Bulgaria’s NEK Launches Tender for Rehabilitation of 3 HPPs - EBRD

Bulgaria's state-owned National Electricity Company, NEK, has launched a tender for the rehabilitation of Momina Klisura and Sestrimo hydro power plants (HPPs) and Belmeken pumped storage HPP, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Monday.

The tender will be partially financed with the proceeds of Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF) grant administered by the EBRD, the bank said in a statement.

The subject of the tender are all activities and components of the engineering service such as design, manufacture, delivery, installation, designer supervision, setting, testing and commissioning of the facilities regarding the three hydro power plants, the EBRD said.

The tender is part of a project for the rehabilitation of Belmeken – Sestrimo – Chaira Hydro Power Complex, Vacha-1 HPP 110 kV switchyard and other HPP system of integrated control.

The overall budget of the project is 37 million euro ($44.2 million), with 70% to be financed by KIDSF and 30% by NEK, the EBRD said in January.
