The Institute is pleased to associate itself with the above two leading organizations in convening this major international energy event at a time when significant developments in oil and gas exploration and development are taking place in our region.
Recent discoveries of large hydrocarbon deposits - particularly natural gas - in the offshore Levant Basin have the potential to significantly alter the supply-side forecasts for the Eastern Mediterranean region. These discoveries could provide much needed energy supplies to meet growing regional demand and possibly even spur exports. Also, the Black Sea region continues to draw significant interest in oil and gas in view of its substantial hydrocarbon reserves.
The region is also seen as an important transit corridor for gas and could play an integral role in ensuring future security of supply for the whole continent. With the basic infrastructure of the South Corridor (see TANAP-TAP) now under construction, the role of SE Europe as a vital East-West energy bridge is coming closer to fulfillment. Now is the perfect time to assess oil and gas business opportunities in SE Europe. International event organisers, ITE Group and ROTA with the active support of IENE are creating a platform for governments, NOCs and IOCs to meet investment and technology partners in a unique event on "Global Oil and Gas SE Europe and Mediterranean”. Senior government officials from several countries, top executives of oil companies, heads of international organizations and industry leaders will discuss strategy and key regional and global projects in a high level meeting in Athens next September at the Metropolitan Expo Center, a state of the art conference and exhibition facility, where the event will take place.
