2 Lines of Turkstream Gas Project Will Be Ready by 2019

Two lines of the Turkish Stream, or TurkStream, natural gas pipeline project will be ready by the end of 2019, according to Chairman of Russia's state-owned energy giant Gazprom's Management Committee Alexey Miller on Monday.

Miller, who met with Russian President Putin on Monday afternoon spoke about the TurkStream project and said that Gazprom, the Russian partner in the project, has already obtained permission for the construction of the section in the Turkish economic zone in the Black Sea.

Miller noted that the two-line project will have a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters, 15.75 bcm of which will serve Turkey while the second line is planned to serve customers in Europe.

Putin visited Istanbul to participate in the World Energy Congress which was held between Oct. 9 and 13. While there, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Putin met and signed an intergovernmental agreement for the project on Oct. 10.
